When looking at today's society and how we go about our everyday life there is one work that comes to mind, that connects it all, this is Technology. Technology is everywhere now a days. There isn't any job that you can have where technology isn't a major component.
As a community we are constantly on our phones. We're sharing ideas, new things we find, things that work, don't work, how we feel, everything and anything you can think of we are doing on the internet. This is because people feel safe putting things out there for all to see. People have thoughts or need something, more often than not it can be found online.
Due to this increasing openness, regarding the internet, we have fully encouraged an opened, networked, and participatory community where we feel safe to share and interact on the internet. I believe this is so popular because the internet and technology is everywhere. Its easy to promote openness and participation when its at the touch of your finger.
When you think of the past and how a couple years ago this wasn't a possibility that insane to me. Just because of how available it is now. I couldn't imagine finding half the information I do without using the internet to assist me. Even when I need a quick question answered I can message and or email them the question. This is communicating about school without actually needing the person or whatever the assignment is, right in front of you.
